Even played as a GM for a while.. Beleive it or not, they got community players to act as GM's back then. Ok not really GM's.. we were officially called "Guides" but had a lot of gm powers.. No ban powers though
I was a counselor in UO for a little while. But they basically wanted you to work it like a job and you only got your sub as payment. There was a pretty big lawsuit about it and they removed them.
Like you had to be online and in game for your scheduled time, it was like a job. It was dumb.
I was a Guide for 2.5 years in EQ. I was pretty upset when the lawsuit happened and that all went away. I was a guide in EQ2 as well but we couldn't do crap.
And I agree with you PV. This is just another money grab using the reputation of the original EQ rather than giving the game the attention it needs to stay current. I honestly don't know why this continues to happen. If someone actually took the original EQ and made the graphics current, I think they would get a huge following.
It's the current market really, the market is driving them to do it.
P99 is hugely popular, so it makes sense they want to capture some of that to make revenue. Though I don't think they will pull many away from P99 long term.
MnM has a shot, and they are trying to do more than just copy EQ. The lead dev for MnM was a lead dev on EQ as well. Up until now it has been a labor of love as ALL of the devs are volunteers (of course with the hope of a payout at go-live).
But Pantheon, while it has better graphics than EQ, leaves much to be desired graphically as well. And the fact that it is a 2 dev team doesn't bode well for its longevity. They might pull it off but they have a major uphill battle.
so, patrolbot plugin has a max target distance of 100, but many spells in EQ have a range of 200 or more. I added in my feature request post about increasing the target range.
You should probably let those values be like MAX_SIGNED_SHORT or something.
100 is pretty restrictive and will not port to all games well.
Yea I can do that.. range 300 doesnt really make sense.. its probably meant to be 30.0 but decimals dont look good in ui's.. so they just removed it. Thats prob also why your other things like radar was not looking good.
