I have found gpt 5.6 sol work mode highest effort setting amazing for documentation. Has 1 shot created 21 page great layout and structured docx to download with technical documentation runbooks.

Claude is probably great as well but I haven’t used it personally for this.

I use Sonnet for documentation generation at work. It's been pretty decent, adopting our formatting by being provided an example.

Both Claude and codex are great for docs
