@Mysticdrew Yes it is significantly better than 5.5. I have been impressed. It currently ranks #2 against fable by on Extra High.. They havnt ranked Max or Ultra yet.

It is a little slower than 5.5... but not by much. The biggest improvement I immediatly noticed is its "assumptions". It is making smarter assumptions and asking for clarification more before just blindly going down the wrong path.

How is it for session usage?

I normally run ExtraHigh.. so 5.5 vs 5.6... maybe 15% more.. Its hard to say.. Its not drastically more.. and that is very subjective because depending on what i'm working on it will go through more tokens... Man.. yea... its too early to tell really. I would need a couple of weeks to see when my weekly balance runs out.. normally at the end of the week I have about 20% left... They keep resetting the week.. so I cant really tell yet.

I just upgraded to max20x for claude. I am working on a big project, would have taken me about 3 weeks on 5x. Plus all the other things I do.

I had 85% of the week used up by monday morning, and it reset on saturday afternoon...

Its easy to spend tokens... too easy. I get lazy some days and just tell it to solve the problem as a /goal.. so it runs without input,spawns agents as needed etc.. I could easily go through a entire week in 1 day....

I've never tracked token usage, but I often find I'm maxed out in a couple of queries. Used to just keep going.

So now that I've used 5.6 Sol EX for a couple of days now.. the speed is very noticably slower. 5.5 ex would lets say take about 20 seconds to think reply.. The same queries.. now take about 40-60 seconds. Throughput is drastically slowed down.. and while the responses are generally better.. they are not 2-3x better.

I think they just take more time to process the prompts and come up with better solutions.

Opus is slower than sonnet, and haiku is super fast but not as good

For my queries.. its tool calls.. before it would do maybe 3-4 tool calls.. its doing dozens now. sometimes on things that do not even seem remotely related.
