For those interested in taking up the job, here are a few examples me and Pit have looked over:

I'm not sure if I speak for Pit here, but I feel something modern, basic, easy to navigate, and easy on the eyes would be perfect. Nothing crazy.

Hi Pit,

I'm suggesting you check out WordPress Buddy+WooCommerce
Might make your members, subscription management and shop management a whole lot easier.
Future script sellers could be your shop vendor with their own ID code for redemption.

the theme below are compatible.

http://socialize.wpengine.com/
http://themeforest.net/item/kleo-next-l ... ew/6776630
http://themeforest.net/item/mikmag-resp ... ew/2728331

Just a suggestion. These theme do not belong to me, but I have used them before.

I have a ton of bandwidth... (Google Fiber)... and while I agree using a CMS would probably be a lot easier in terms of overall management and design, VB5 would be a better choice for a forum. With that being said there is no reason you can't simply integrate a VB5 forum with a CMS such as Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal. Viper, and Syk...if you want I can start working on this for you.

Not a huge fan of node but nodebb forums are 2016!

https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB
https://nodebb.org

Example of a simple nodebb forum.
https://talk.shadowproject.io
https://community.nodebb.org/topic/2215 ... for-nodebb

If i'm being honest though. I just see changing the forum in any way shape or form being a potential clusterfuck. They usually are.
I would advise leaving it. If it isn't broken then no need to fix it! You have been warned, i believe it will take up way too much of your time and it WILL be riddled with issues!.
